and連接兩個主語，謂語動詞用復數(shù)。但是有種情況：The dancer and singer is my Mum.此句謂語為單數(shù)。意思是這位既是舞蹈家（1個人2個身份），但如果The dancer and the singer 為主語，謂語用復數(shù)。意思是舞蹈家和歌唱家（2個人2個身份）。

and的用法

一.and有這樣一個用法，and前后的兩部分表示同時發(fā)生的動作的，或者是同時存在的屬性、特征等的時候，這時候它的意思就需要進行轉(zhuǎn)換了，可以譯為“又...又...”、“既...又...”、“一方面...，一方面”，“而”等。例如：

If a body is acted upon by a number of forces and still remains motionless, the body is said to be in equilibrium。

The process of oxidation in human body gives off heat slowly and regularly。

二.and還有一種用法，與上一個用法類似，但還是有很大的不同的，在and前后的兩部分，有時在表示不能同時并存的事物或是動作的時候。這時候的and所表達的意思是“或”。例如：

The whole equipment can be assembled and dismantled in a matter of hours.

三.在and的使用過程中還有這么一種情況，表因果關(guān)系時，and前面的部分表示原因或條件，后面的部分表示結(jié)果，在這里面的and相當于so that，可以把它翻譯為“因此”，“所以”，“從而”等等。例如：

Sound is carried by air, and without air there can be no sound.

After firing the torpedoes the forward part would lose weight and the submarine would be out of balance.
